Join Us: FY18 Budget Pop-Up @ BOE Taxpayer's Night!

FY18 Budget Pop-Up & BOE Taxpayer's NightThe Budget Pop-Up is organized by the Bureau of the Budget and Management Research (BBMR) to inform Baltimore residents about Mayor Pugh’s proposed Fiscal 2018 Budget priorities.  The goal of this interactive budget event is to equip city residents with the budget information they need to make the most out of the Taxpayers’ Night Hearing.

To inform the Mayor’s investment decisions for Fiscal 2018, BBMR Budget Results Teams, made up of City employees, partner organizations, and community members, collaborated to review budget proposals submitted by City services.  Each team recommended funding for services based on Mayor Pugh’s priority outcomes:

  • Thriving Youth & Families
  • Safe Neighborhoods
  • Healthy Communities
  • Vibrant Economy
  • Sustainable Infrastructure
  • High-Performing Government

At the Budget Pop-Up event, participants will visit six Outcome Booths, one for each Priority Outcome.  Prizes, provided by Visit Baltimore and Baltimore National Heritage Areas, will be awarded to those who fill out their “passport” by stopping by all Outcome booths during the event.

Budget analysts, service representatives, and the Outcome Budgeting Results Team chairs will man each station to answer questions about the budget process and the investments proposed for Fiscal 2018. The Planning Department will also host a booth where residents can learn about the FY18 Capital Budget  and six-year Capital Improvement Plan.

At the event, students from the Green School of Baltimore will hold a bake sale, with proceeds going toward their talent show.  Visit Baltimore and the Baltimore National Heritage Area will also host stations highlighting Baltimore’s best tourist attractions.

Very limited parking is available in the lot directly in front of City Hall; paid parking is available on-street and in the Lexington and Fayette Street garages. The venue is located on MTA bus routes 5, 20, 23, 40, and 91, and is near the Shot Tower/Market Place Metro station.
