Board of Estimates Taxpayers' Night

Board of Estimates Taxpayers' Night

Wednesday, April 4, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

The goal of Taxpayers' Night is to equip City residents with the budget information they need to meaningfully engage in the budget process.  This interactive event will help residents understand how the Fiscal 2019 budget invests their tax dollars to move Baltimore forward, and allow public commentary on the budget.

From 6:00-7:00PM, residents can mix and mingle with BBMR staff and agency leaders to learn about the FY19 Proposed Budget and ask questions about planned investments.  There will be information booths set up highlighting budget plans for the Mayor's key initiatives, centered around her 5 Pillars:

  • Education
  • Public Safety
  • Economic Development & Jobs
  • Quality of LIfe
  • Accountability & Transparency

At 7:00pm the BOE hearing will begin with the 2-minute speeches from residents who can sign up to speak upon arrival. After all attendees who have requested the opportunity to speak have had their chance to provide testimony, the hearing will conclude, no later than 8:00 pm.

Taxpayers’ Night will be held on the 1st floor of the War Memorial building.  Very limited parking is available in the lot directly in front of City Hall; paid parking is available on-street and in the Lexington and Fayette Street garages. The venue is located on MTA bus routes 5, 20, 23, 40, and 91, and is near the Shot Tower/Market Place Metro station.
